Calculate how many LED digit stickers you need for your paraglider
⚠️ Don't forget: Swiss regulations require your SHV number to be displayed on your paraglider in 40 cm height letters. Each digit is an LED-segment sticker โ use this calculator to find out how many segment pieces you need to order.
Each digit (0โ9) is made up of a different number of LED segments. The table below shows the segment count for each digit:
| Number | Segments |
|---|---|
| 0 | 6 |
| 1 | 2 |
| 2 | 5 |
| 3 | 5 |
| 4 | 3 |
| 5 | 5 |
| 6 | 6 |
| 7 | 3 |
| 8 | 7 |
| 9 | 6 |
Single segment (1 sticker piece)
bevel = (L โ flat) / 2 = 2.25 cm
| Feature | Formula | cm |
|---|---|---|
| Segment length L | tip-to-tip | 19 |
| Segment flat F | non-bevel | 14.5 |
| Segment thickness T | โ | 4.5 |
| Bevel run | (LโF)/2 | 2.25 |
| Digit width W | L + T | 23.5 |
| Digit height H | 2L + T | 42.5 |
| Char spacing G* | assumed | 4.5 |
| Pitch (W+G) | โ | 28 |
*Inter-digit gap G is set by your mounting โ change as needed.
Swiss regulations require the number to be visible from below during flight (on the lower surface). Pilots may place them wherever they prefer; the two most practical spots are:
On the outermost cells (Randkappe) at the wing tip, centered along the chord.
At the trailing edge (on the lower surface), around the center of the span.
๐ก Tip: Use a carton box when you put the stickers on the glider.
